The Resurrection Project Condemns Congressional Passage of Trump Budget Bill as Attack on Working Communities

CHICAGO, IL - July 3, 2025 – The Resurrection Project (TRP) strongly condemns Congress's passage of the Trump administration's budget bill, which prioritizes mass deportation operations over the health and safety of working families across the nation. The legislation dramatically expands ICE funding to unprecedented levels while simultaneously gutting essential public health programs that communities and TRP residents depend on for survival.

"This budget represents a fundamental betrayal of the values that build strong communities," said Raul Raymundo, CEO of The Resurrection Project. "For more than three decades, TRP has worked to create wealth and build assets in our neighborhoods, and we know that healthy communities depend on trust and investment in families, not on terrorizing our residents and neighbors and cutting them off from critical social services."

The legislation transforms ICE into the largest federal agency in history with the express purpose of terrorizing immigrant communities, while devastating working-class families who rely on public health and other safety net programs that are being eliminated.

"People are living in fear of their rights being taken away at any moment," said Erendira Rendon, Vice President of Immigrant Justice at The Resurrection Project. "This is fundamentally un-American. We will continue to fight for the promise of what America should be—a place where all families can thrive without fear."
