The Vera Institute of Justice released an April 2024 report, "Evaluating the Impact of the Midwest Immigrant Defenders Alliance," assessing the first year of the Midwest Immigrant Defenders Alliance (MIDA) — a coalition that includes The Resurrection Project (TRP), the National Immigrant Justice Center, The Immigration Project, and the Cook County Public Defender. The report examines MIDA's universal representation model for people facing deportation in Chicago immigration court, documenting year-one outcomes, the demographics of clients served, and the model's potential for broader impact and scaling.

The Vera Institute of Justice released a February 2025 report, "Evaluating the Impact of the Midwest Immigrant Defenders Alliance: Year Two Progress and Recommendations for Scaling," assessing the second year of the Midwest Immigrant Defenders Alliance (MIDA). This Year Two interim report provides an overview of trends in the Chicago immigration court and how the MIDA program is helping shape the landscape of detained deportation defense—including the program’s reach, impacts, strengths, and limitations—and provides a roadmap for scaling up the MIDA program to reach all people who are eligible.

The Vera Institute of Justice released an April 2026 report, "The Impact of Legal Representation on Detained Immigrants Facing Deportation: Evidence from the MIDA Program," presenting findings from the third year of the Midwest Immigrant Defenders Alliance (MIDA). The report examines MIDA's universal representation model for detained individuals facing removal proceedings in Chicago immigration court, and notably presents the first randomized study of a legal representation program, documenting the causal impact of attorney representation on case outcomes, bond hearings, and clients' ability to remain in the United States.
